Rituals

The artwork below was created by Diego Velazquez around 1600s. His works in this period form the apotheosis of his style. Velázquez was deeply orientated to nature, he copied from the living subject and became one of the greatest Spanish naturalists. Those artwork pictures some rituals that happened in everyday life. I believe that it is very important for an architect to understand and expert in most rituals when they trying to design a certain space. A perfect space is when it fits and performs very well to the users without any difficulty.

The three musicians.

As we observed the paintings thoroughly, his works are characterized by the strong contrasts between light and dark. Contrast is important to the definition of space and it is essential in understanding how architecture is enhanced and transformed over time by the dynamic and variable characteristics of daylight.
